What are the benefits of attending The Hundred Club?

Mental Health:

At Team Training we already work with some over 65’s, as clients, on an individual basis.  We work on their strength and cardiovascular health and in the private gym we have a great laugh too. We also see on a daily basis the power of friendship and support that comes from training in a small group.

It is well reported that loneliness is a killer and that social interaction is of huge benefit to mental health and longevity particularly as we get older.

“Mental health and longevity for the over 65’s are proven to benefit from social interaction.  A strong social life has been linked with many health benefits, like less risk of depression and longer life span.”

“Alongside managing cardiovascular health and being physically active:  People who are concerned about cognitive decline and dementia should endeavour to stay socially active,”

Attending The Hundred Club will give you a new friendship circle of people who, like you, are interested in taking care of their health.  For 2 hours every week you will be in great company, have fun and laugh and smile whilst exercising. The friendships you make in The Hundred Club may result in going for coffee or organising a weekend walk, all of which will benefit your mental health.  Couples, Widows, Singles – everyone is welcome, and welcomed.

Physical Activity:

The Physical activity guidelines provided by the NHS recommend that adults aged over 65 are advised to:

  • aim to be physically active every day, even if it’s just light activity
  • do activities that improve strength, balance and flexibility on at least 2 days a week
  • do at least 150 minutes of moderate intensity activity a week or 75 minutes of vigorous intensity activity if you are already active, or a combination of both
  • reduce time spent sitting or lying down and break up long periods of not moving with some activity

If you’ve fallen or are worried about falling, doing exercises to improve your strength, balance and flexibility will help make you stronger and feel more confident on your feet.

The Hundred Club will help you to work on the above.  Attending these sessions will also give you more confidence and fitness to become even more active. The strength that you gain from attending regular sessions over a prolonged period of time will give you the ability to do more of the above to a higher intensity helping you to live longer with a better quality of life.

What will The Hundred Club Sessions be like:

The sessions at The Hundred Club powerfully combine social interaction with strength, balance and mobility training: alongside cardiovascular exercise.

The sessions will be fun, with a strong focus on a social element to encourage long term commitment to these twice weekly sessions.

It is the consistency of exercise and interaction over the long term that will see you, your parent or partner reap the real benefits of these group sessions.

Exercises included in these sessions will be:

Strength, Balance & Mobility Exercise:

Carrying
Lifting Weights
